We,
The Executive Committee of the African Management Development Institute's Network (AMDIN) and the leadership of the African Governance Institute (the AGI);

Acknowledging respectively that:

Whereas the mission of AMDIN is to create for African Management Development Institutes (MDIs), a platform for articulating their collective voice in promoting mutual partnership and collaboration with a view to developing leadership and management capacity in response to the needs of the African people;

And whereas the mandate of AMDIN is therefore to focus on enhancing the capacities of MDIs in respect of administration and management issues on the Continent by embarking on relevant programmatic interventions;

And whereas the vision of the AGI is to create an AU- recognized centre of excellence responsible for conducting cutting-edge research on all forms of governance issues on the Continent;

And whereas the mandate of the AGI is therefore to address governance challenges facing Africa;

Recalling that the African Ministers of Public Service/Civil Service have emphasised the need for closer collaboration and harmonisation between AMDIN and the AGI in order to avoid duplication of efforts and competition for work and resources;

Taking cognisance of the African Ministers of Public Service and Civil Service's view on the matter in acknowledging that there may be areas of overlap and duplication in carrying out the respective mandates of the two organizations;

Recording that the representatives of the two organizations have entered into serious discussions to clarify theirrespective roles on the Continent as recommended by the African Ministers of Public Service/Civil Service;

Now therefore the parties agree to:

Develop a common vision and programme on the Continent's Agenda in respect of their respective mandates with a view to streamlining them in a manner that will facilitate and strengthen cooperation, collaboration and harmonization;

Further develop a common basis on which partners could be engaged to avoid competition for work and resources;

Further continue to dialogue with each other to explore areas of possible collaboration and cooperation, by meeting at least once every six months.
